Dane Sandy
“Generating massive impact through innovation.”
Mr. Dane Sandy holds a BSc. In Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from the University of the West Indies,
an International Master’s in Business Administration specializing in International Finance from the
Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business, and computer science certification from Harvard University;
however, Mr. Sandy considers himself a lifelong learner and claims that more than 90% of his knowledge and skills are self-taught.
As a junior, Mr. Sandy was a national athlete and represented his country for the 100m and 200m sprints.
From this age he learned the valuable discipline of setting goals, making plans and going the extra mile to reach his targets.
He is naturally gifted at mathematics and problem solving. Although he has won multiple top place awards for mathematics
and additional mathematics at the high school level, one of the most concrete examples of his problem-solving strength was
in winning the UWI open scholarship exam. The examination is akin to a more intense version of the SATs, consisting of tricky logic,
mathematics and grammar questions to test aptitude. It is offered to both first year and incoming students and only the top two
persons per faculty are selected. Mr. Sandy won for the faculty of engineering (1466 enrolled students along with incoming students).
